OEM Pistachio Chocolate Powder Manufacturer in Malaysia
Also known as Dubai-style
OEM & private label pistachio chocolate powder - Dubai-style drink and dessert flavour, Halal manufactured in sachet, stick pack or bulk for your brand.
What is Dubai-style pistachio chocolate?
A chocolate bar filled with chopped kadayif pastry and a pistachio-tahini cream. The combination went viral on social media and turned a confectionery format into a flavour profile that now appears in drinks, desserts and spreads far beyond the original bar.
Dubai chocolate is defined by what is inside it rather than by the chocolate: shredded kadayif, toasted until crisp, bound in a cream of pistachio and tahini. Translated into a flavour, that means pistachio and sesame together, with a toasted note underneath - which is a far more interesting profile than pistachio alone.
It is also the only flavour in this library that exists because of a video. That changes how a brand should think about it: the demand is real and large, but it arrived fast and trend flavours do not announce when they are leaving.
The honest limitation is texture. The crunch of kadayif is central to the original and no powder delivers it. What a powder delivers is the flavour, which is the part that has outlasted the format in every market it reached.
What does pistachio chocolate taste like?
Nutty and rich, with pistachio's sweet green character against the faint savoury bitterness of sesame, carried on chocolate and a toasted pastry note. Less sweet than it sounds, because the tahini pulls it back.
| Character | Level | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Sweetness | High | A confectionery-derived flavour; the chocolate base is sweet by design. |
| Bitterness | Medium | Tahini brings a genuine savoury bitterness - it is what stops the profile being cloying. |
| Roast | High | Toasted kadayif, roasted pistachio and roasted sesame all contribute. |
| Creaminess | High | Nut and sesame pastes are both high in fat, which reads as richness. |
| Aroma | High | Roasted nut and sesame aromas are strong and survive drying well. |
Indicative flavour positioning to help write a product brief. It is not sensory panel data, and the finished taste is set with you at sampling stage.
What has to be decided to make pistachio chocolate as a powder?
Two things that are unusual together: how real the pistachio is, and how fast the product can reach shelf. This is a trend flavour, so speed is part of the brief, and pistachio is expensive enough that authenticity is a cost decision rather than a given.
- Pistachio is costly, so most pistachio products are not mostly pistachio. Flavour systems, other nuts and added colour do a lot of the work in the category. That is a legitimate choice, but it decides the label, the cost and the claim, so it is made openly at briefing.
- Two nut and seed allergens at once. Pistachio is a tree nut and tahini is sesame - both declarable in most markets. That affects labelling, export documentation and line handling, and it is not something to discover late.
- Green is expected and rarely natural at powder dilution. Buyers expect to see pistachio. Real nut gives a muted beige-green, so colour is a decision with market-permission consequences attached.
- Trend timing is part of the specification. A flavour that arrived through social media can fade on the same timescale. Formats with shorter runs and lower commitment suit it better than a large single production of one SKU.
What are the Halal risk points in a pistachio chocolate powder?
The chocolate system and the emulsifier rather than the nuts. Pistachio and sesame are plant material. Cocoa and nut-paste powders are heavily emulsified, and mono- and diglycerides (E471) can be plant or animal derived under one name.
Nut flavours are the second check, because they are frequently carried in ethanol and because a pistachio flavour may be built on other nut derivatives. Certification assesses what enters the plant, not what remains in the finished powder, so the Halal-certified version of the flavour is specified at briefing rather than assumed.
D&O manufactures under JAKIM Halal certification to MS 1500, and every raw material on a Halal-certified line carries its own valid certificate. The recurring failure points are listed in Top 10 Ingredients That Fail Halal Certification.
Which pack formats suit pistachio chocolate powder?
Sachet, stick pack, jar or bulk. The format is chosen with the formula rather than after it, because it decides how the powder is protected from moisture and how the buyer meets the product.
| Format | What it suits |
|---|---|
| Sachet | The right format for a trend flavour - smaller commitment, faster to market, easy to retire. |
| Stick pack | Sampling and multi-flavour bundles, which is how most buyers meet a new flavour. |
| Jar | Only where the brand is confident the flavour has settled into its range rather than passing through. |
| Bulk | Café, bakery and dessert use, where the flavour is a component in a made-to-order product. |
Where is this manufactured, and under what certification?

Frequently asked questions
- Can a powder reproduce Dubai chocolate?
- It reproduces the flavour, not the texture. The crunch of toasted kadayif is central to the original bar and nothing in a sachet delivers it. What travels is the pistachio, sesame and toasted-pastry profile, which is the part that has outlasted the format elsewhere.
- Is the pistachio in pistachio products usually real?
- Often only partly. Pistachio is expensive, so flavour systems, other nuts and colour carry much of the effect across the category. It is a legitimate formulation choice, but it determines the cost, the label and what the brand may claim.
- What allergens does this flavour carry?
- Usually two. Pistachio is a tree nut and tahini is sesame, and both are declarable in most markets. That affects the label, the export documentation and how the line is handled, so it is settled at briefing rather than at artwork.
- Is it risky to launch a trend flavour?
- The demand is real but it has no guaranteed duration. The usual answer is to match the commitment to the uncertainty - smaller runs, sachet or stick formats, and a range position that lets the flavour be retired without stranding stock.
- How does the sampling stage work?
- A brief goes to the R&D lab, which produces a bench sample for you to taste and adjust. Revisions are normal and expected, because taste targets are easier to describe by comparison than in words. Only once the sample is signed off does the formula, the pack format and the documentation get fixed.
- Can products made here be exported to the United States?
- Yes. A facility shipping food into the US must hold an FDA food facility registration under FSMA, which D&O does. Registration is a filing requirement, not an FDA approval or endorsement. Labelling and claims still have to meet US rules for your specific product.
- Can D&O develop a flavour that is not in the library?
- Yes. The library is what has been produced before, not a menu limit. Bring a reference product, a target taste or a competitor sample and the R&D lab benchmarks against it. Flavour development is part of the OEM brief rather than a separate service.
- Does a Halal-certified factory make every ingredient Halal?
- No, and this is the most common misunderstanding. Certification covers the plant and the materials running in it, so every raw material entering a Halal line needs its own valid certificate from its supplier. An assurance in an email is not a certificate. Substituting an ingredient late means re-sampling the formula.
